(Denver, CO = Alex Walczak) The Aurora Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a robbery and nonfatal shooting that occurred on Sunday evening in northwest Aurora.

Julien Weeks, a Denver resident, faces charges of first-degree assault, robbery, and violating a court order. He is currently being held at the Adams County Jail with a bond set at $150,000.

The incident unfolded around 7 p.m. on Sunday when officers received a report of a 21-year-old man who had self-transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Simultaneously, police responded to a shots fired call in the 2200 block of Ironton Street, quickly determining that the two incidents were connected.

The Aurora Police Department’s Robbery Investigative Unit and Gun Violence Suppression Team took the lead in the investigation, conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence. This effort led to the identification of Weeks as a suspect.

Weeks was arrested without incident around 8:30 p.m. Formal charges will be filed by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

Public Information Officer Joe Moylan emphasized the seriousness of the incident, stating, “This case is a significant matter concerning community safety, and we hope citizens will actively provide information.” He assured that the police are committed to uncovering the truth and preventing crime in the area.
