[Event] Christmas with Charlie Brown

(Denver = Won Jeong) When I think back to the friends of my childhood, Snoopy and Woodstock, and of course Charlie Brown and Linus, immediately come to mind. Even though the years have passed, they remain, without question, my closest companions.
When I picture them in my heart from time to time, they still make me smile. They are that kind of friend.
To celebrate the Christmas season, the Colorado Symphony presented “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
The performance took place at Boettcher Concert Hall, located inside the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and was conducted by Wilbur Lin.
Wilbur Lin, who was appointed in June 2023 as Associate Conductor of the Colorado Symphony and Music Director of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, continued to build his reputation, and in 2024 he was promoted to Associate Conductor.
What made this concert unique was the presence of actors portraying Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Sally, and Schroder, who entertained the audience with singing and choreography. They even encouraged the audience to join in and sing along with classic Christmas carols. For many, it became an unforgettable holiday moment.
The stage depicted Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, and Sally decorating a Christmas tree. While staying true to the emotional tone of the original work, the performance allowed the audience to take a nostalgic journey back in time.
In particular, Charlie Brown’s performance of “Just Like Me” struck a deeply emotional chord:
Hello little tree
Kind of looks like me
Standing all alone
…
Its lyrical words and delivery created a kind of “magic,” one that transported listeners to the innocence of childhood.
And suddenly, I found myself thinking, “Everything is still the same, after all.”
Time has passed, and it feels as if much has changed — and yet, when one looks closely, everything remains almost exactly as it was.
It was only that we had forgotten.
Merry Christmas~!
