[MLS] Rapids Rise to 4th Place in Western Conference with 2-1 Victory

(Commerce City, CO = Wongeol Jeong) Colorado Rapids secured their fourth victory under new coach Chris Armas.
On the 20th local time, Colorado claimed a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas in an MLS regular-season match held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado.
Throughout the first half, Colorado relentlessly attacked Dallas’ goal. Particularly, Colorado forward Cabral had three goal-scoring opportunities in the first half alone. However, Cabral failed to find the back of the net, hitting the crossbar on one occasion.
Colorado took the lead in the first half stoppage time when a low cross from Cole Bassett on the left side of Dallas’ goal deflected off Dallas defender Sebastien Ibeagha and into the net, resulting in an own goal and a 1-0 lead for Colorado going into halftime.
Colorado extended their lead early in the second half as Calvin Harris found the back of the net. Harris calmly finished off a centering pass from Cabral on the left side of the Dallas goal with his right foot, with the ball deflecting off Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes and defender Sam Junqua before crossing the goal line.
In the 87th minute of the second half, Dallas managed to pull one back as forward Petar Musa chested down a pass from Liam Fraser and struck a powerful shot with his right foot. The ball bounced off the ground, evaded the goalkeeper, and hit the left goal post before going in.
Although Dallas narrowed the deficit to 2-1 with that goal, they ran out of time.
With this victory, Colorado now holds a record of 4 wins, 2 losses, and 3 draws for the season, placing them 4th in the Western Conference standings, just behind LA Galaxy.
