(Atlanta = Won Jeong) — A new face is joining the defensive line of the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT).

U.S. Soccer announced today (Jan. 19) that defender Ayo Oke (22) of the 2026 NWSL expansion team, Denver Summit, has been added to the January training camp roster. She replaces Houston Dash defender Avery Patterson, who was ruled out due to illness.

This selection marks the first senior national team call-up of Ayo Oke’s career. Having signed with the Denver Summit on January 6—just ahead of the team’s inaugural 2026 season—Oke also sets a historic milestone as the first-ever USWNT call-up in the club’s history.

Oke is a highly touted talent who has risen through the ranks of the U.S. Youth National Teams, from the U-15 to the U-23 levels.

Her impressive resume includes representing the United States at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and making 31 appearances for Pachuca in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil, where she played a key role in securing the 2025 Clausura title—the first league championship in that club’s history.

The current roster reflects a clear trend toward a generational shift, featuring six uncapped players including Oke, Jordan Silkowitz, Riley Jackson, Sally Menti, Maddie Dahlien, and Reilyn Turner.

The U.S. squad is scheduled to play two friendly matches in California. The team will face Paraguay on Saturday the 24th at 2:30 p.m. (local time) at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, followed by a match against Chile on Tuesday the 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara.

Avery Patterson, who had a successful debut year in 2025 with nine caps and one goal, was unfortunately forced to withdraw from the camp due to a sudden illness.
