(Denver = Won Jeong) — The Colorado Rockies hosted the St. Louis Cardinals at Coors Field for a regular season MLB matchup.

Held on July 21 (local time), this game marked the first of a three-game series between Colorado and St. Louis.

The Rockies started Austin Gomber (0-3, 5.65 ERA), while the Cardinals sent Michael McGreevy (1-1, 4.22 ERA) to the mound.

McGreevy pitched 7 innings, allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs.

Gomber gave up 11 hits and 5 earned runs over 5.2 innings, with the Rockies falling behind in the starting pitcher battle.

A highlight of the game was the appearance of former Rockies star third baseman Nolan Arenado, who started at third for the Cardinals.

Arenado proved his skills haven’t faded, recording 2 hits and 2 runs.

Meanwhile, Gomber showcased a variety of pitches—including four-seam fastballs, sliders, knuckle curves, and changeups—demonstrating his potential as a core member of the Rockies’ rotation.

St. Louis steadily built their lead, scoring in every inning from the 4th through the 7th, pulling ahead to a 6–2 victory.

Cardinals reliever Phil Maton took the mound in the 9th and closed out the game without allowing a run, sealing the win for St. Louis.

McGreevy was credited with the win.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow, July 22, for the second game of the series at Coors Field.
Colorado is scheduled to start Blalock, while St. Louis will send Fedde to the mound.
