[MLB] Rockies Rally Falls Short in Finale Against Marlins

Colorado Rockies / Mickey Moniak

(Denver = Ella Kim) Game three of three took place today at Coors Field, for the final game of the Rockies vs. Marlins this season. Wanting to prevent a sweep from the Marlins, the Rockies continue to fight for more wins as the season comes to a close.

Starter Tanner Gordon pitched well the first six innings, gathering four strikeouts and limiting the Marlins runs to four, despite a higher number of hits.

On the offensive side, rookie Blaine Crim hit his second home run today in the bottom of the second hoping to kick off a bit of momentum for the team. Tyler Freeman and also rookie Kyle Karros took advantage with Freeman hitting a single to bring Karros to home plate. This brought the Rockies to an early lead of 2-1.

The Rockies kept a heavy focus on hitting hard, with Yanquiel Fernandez hitting a homerun in the 7th. In the 9th inning, Blaine Crim hit another home run. Fernandez and Ryan Ritter both doubled in succession, scoring Fernandez. Mickey Moniak hit a homer for the fourth game in a row, also scoring Ritter. The Rockies slowly closed the gap from 3-9 to 7-9. Though once again, unable to push through for a win, the Rockies displayed excellent teamwork and played a full game today. They will return tomorrow for a series against the Angels.
