[MLB] Rockies Top Dodgers 8-3, Arcia Leads Comeback

(Denver = Ella Kim) Game three of four took place today at Coors Field on August 20th. After their crushing loss yesterday, the Rockies arrived at the field this evening hungry for payback against the Dodgers. The Dodgers, eager to keep up their newfound momentum didn’t back down so easily.
The starting matchup on the pitching mound tonight saw Rockies starter Tanner Gordon battling Dodgers hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani. Gordon carried the Rockies to the NUM inning with quick wits and good placement, refusing to offer the Dodgers more than a single point.
The strong defense this evening was supported by an equally aggressive offense, as the Rockies rookies continue to lead the charge. Warming Bernabel scored early on in the bottom of the second, with the help of a well placed double by Center Fielder Brenton Doyle. Piggy backing off their first score adrenaline, Orlando Arcia hit a sacrifice fly allowing Mickey Moniak to home plate to give the Rockies an early lead of 2-0.
The Rockies offense was in no mood to rest on their laurels, continuing to attack consistently in the bottom of the fourth. Warming Bernabel, a rising rookie, hit a double to allow Jordan Beck to score. Arcia and Moniak made quite the duo, with Arcia hitting a single to score Moniak for the second time. In turn, designated hitter Tyler Freeman brought Arcia to home plate with a line drive down right field, leaving the Rockies with a cozy lead of 5-0.
Though in the top of the sixth inning, Dodgers right fielder Teoscar Hernandez managed a home run, the Rockies retaliated in the bottom of the inning with Orlando Arcia scoring yet again. With the score now 6-1, the Rockies were set for a win. With former Braves player Orlando Arcia newly back from the injured list, it seems he’s feeling refreshed and better than ever, scoring two runs, two RBIs, and no strikeouts.
All star Hunter Goodman, also mustered up some strength at the bottom of the eighth inning, hitting a double and getting two runs to the home plate with teammates Ryan Ritter and Ezequiel Tovar, widening the gap to 8-1.
A short lived rally pushed back the margin, as the Dodgers scored twice at the top of the ninth, but were unable to ultimately recover from the Rockies’ early lead, leaving the final score at 8-3.
A complete, well played game of baseball was won by the Rockies tonight as both Rookies and Veterans continue to rapidly improve in the second half of the season. The Rockies will return tomorrow afternoon, hoping to snag the series- their first series victory against the Dodgers this season.
