[MLB] Dodgers Crush Rockies 11-4 Despite Colorado’s Late Rally

(Denver = Ella Kim) On the evening at Coors Field on August 19th, the Rockies took on the Dodgers for game two of four. With a well deserved victory snatched from a tie in yesterday’s close game, fans of both teams were eager to see what twists today’s game would bring.
The Dodgers came out of yesterday’s loss swinging and ready for revenge, with their starting pitcher sharp, and their hitters sharper. The Dodgers offense hammered two doubles, two homeruns, and a couple scores off of singles. Overall, they managed to rack 7 points with no response from the Rockies in the first three innings.
With the team behind 0-7 and a rough start for pitcher Austin Gomber, the Rockies switched to relief pitcher Anthony Molina to continue the battle at the top of the fourth inning. With a fresh arm on the mound, the Rockies surged forward, prepared for payback. Immediately, they kicked off their comeback with an impressive double play by Ezequiel Tovar and rookie Warming Bernabel. Without further error, the Rockies were able to shut down the Dodgers’ momentum, their first scoreless inning of the game.

Refreshed and ready to take on the second half of the game, Bernabel singled, barely missing the plate for second. The Rockies’ ace Ezequiel Tovar singled, setting them up to score. After rookie Kyle Karros struck out swinging, leaving the team with two outs, Brenton Doyle homered to left center field, changing the game to 7-2. Though still 5 points down, a storm started brewing for Colorado’s spirited team.
The rookies of the Rockies continued to close the gap as Bernabel started the 7th inning with a walk, brought to home plate by Kyle Karros’ home run to left field. This left the score at 7-4, with the Rockies only down by 3.
Unfortunately, despite the Rockies’ best effort, the Dodgers regained their momentum, responding by bringing the gap to 11-4. Although they took a loss today, the Rockies will return tomorrow ready to take on the Dodgers once again.
