(Commerce City, CO = Won Jeong) Fought well, but lost.

The Colorado Rapids fell 1-0 to the Houston Dynamo FC in an MLS regular season home game.

Since the arrival of new head coach Chris Armas, Colorado’s style of play has undergone significant changes, and they effectively pressed Houston in the early stages of the game.

Deploying midfielder Cole Bassett in a deeper role, Colorado bolstered their midfield and defense.

Colorado succeeded in pinning Houston’s attacking line near the midfield.

The game remained deadlocked at 0-0 until late into the second half.

The balance was disrupted in stoppage time.

The referee declared 6 minutes of stoppage time. During this added time, Colorado threatened Houston’s goal. However, a cleared ball ended up with Houston, leading to a sequence that saw Houston defender Brad Smith slotting home the only goal, ending the game 1-0.

In the process, Colorado defender Andreas Maxso went down after being struck in the face by the opposing defender’s elbow. This sparked controversy over a foul, but it was not given.

The game ended as such.

With this loss, Colorado now holds a record of 1 win, 2 losses, and 2 draws, dropping to 10th place in the Western Conference.
