[NLL] Go Big or Go Home

 

(Denver = Ella S. Kim) At 2 p.m. on April 13, the Colorado Mammoth faced off against the Saskatchewan Rush in a fierce battle for a postseason berth during their final home game of the season. Will Malcom led the Mammoth’s offense, launching shot after shot at the goal, while Dillon Ward held down the defense with key saves against the Rush’s aggressive attacks. Connor Kelly also made a notable contribution, scoring despite the Rush’s lead, with support from teammates Ryan Lee and TJ Comizio.

Colorado ultimately fell to Saskatchewan with a final score of 11–6 in their last home game of the season.

Will Malcom, a key player for the team, contributed 3 goals and 2 assists in an effort to lead the team to victory.

 

Another core member, Ryan Lee, assisted 3 of the team’s 6 goals, reaffirming his presence on the field.

Meanwhile, Colorado’s goaltender Dillon Ward defended the net with an impressive 50 saves.

Colorado registered 43 shots on goal, trailing slightly behind Saskatchewan’s 47.

 

Will Malcom has been a consistent force on offense since being drafted by the Mammoth in 2019. As one of the team’s top scorers, fans had high hopes for his performance today—and he did not disappoint. Malcom played a direct role in most of Colorado’s goals, scoring three himself. He also assisted Thomas Vela in the first quarter and added another assist to Connor Robinson late in the fourth quarter.

Dillon Ward, with his 50 saves, also stood out. While the Saskatchewan Rush managed to score several goals, Ward blocked even more. In 2013, Ward made history as the first goaltender since 1999 to finish in the top three in voting. Although today’s official stats have not been released, his steady performance and near shutout presence were undeniably impactful.

Unfortunately, today’s loss marked the end of the Mammoth’s season, as the Rush’s win eliminated Colorado from the 2025 postseason. Nevertheless, the Mammoth fought through adversity this season and gave it their all. Today’s game was a remarkable display of effort and passion.
