[MLB] Rockies Give Up 5 Runs in the 5th Inning…

(Denver = Ella S. Kim) The Rockies suffered a heavy defeat against the Milwaukee Brewers.
On April 9th (local time), the Rockies played their second game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field. While the game was tough overall, there were still a few well-executed plays that stood out.
First baseman Michael Toglia showcased solid defense, proving his reliability at first base. In the top of the fourth inning, all three outs were completed with catches by Toglia.
Ryan McMahon hit a home run over center field in the bottom of the third inning in response to the Brewers’ offense. With the Brewers leading 5-1, Kris Bryant followed up with a double and later scored off a hit by Brenton Doyle, narrowing the score to 5-2.
Angel Chivilli also contributed with quick reflexes in the top of the seventh, throwing to first base twice for fast outs to Toglia. In the bottom of the ninth, Ezequiel Tovar hit a single, refusing to give up until the very end.
Starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela held the Brewers scoreless through the first two innings. However, things unraveled quickly starting in the third, after allowing a leadoff double to Garrett Mitchell.
Senzatela then walked Joey Ortiz and gave up a timely hit to Brice Turang, allowing one run to score.
The Brewers followed with a two-run homer to right field by William Contreras, scoring five runs total in the third inning alone.
In the bottom of the third, Rockies’ Ryan McMahon lifted an 89 mph fastball from Brewers starter Alexander over the center-field wall, putting one run on the board and making the score 5-1.
Senzatela’s struggles continued into the fifth inning.
Jackson Chourio hit an 86 mph slider from Senzatela for a home run, adding three more runs for the Brewers and extending their lead to 8-2.
The Rockies brought in Peralta, Chivilli, Kinley, Halvorsen, and Vodnik in relief. However, they gave up a staggering seven runs in the top of the ninth, handing the Brewers a decisive victory.
The Rockies will look to bounce back in the final game of the series tomorrow, with Ryan Feltner slated to start.
