(Denver, CO = Won Jeong) The Colorado Mammoth will open the home portion of their 2026-27 National Lacrosse League season on New Year’s Day, hosting the Georgia Swarm at Ball Arena on Friday, Jan. 1, 2027.

The Mammoth announced that Georgia will visit Denver for Colorado’s first home game of the season, marking the second consecutive year the two teams will meet in the Mammoth’s home opener.

Known as the “LOUD HOUSE,” Ball Arena will once again welcome Mammoth fans for the team’s first home appearance of the season. The venue has also played a significant role in Colorado’s history, serving as the team’s home during its NLL championship runs in 2006 and 2022.

The matchup will also feature Colorado forward Andrew Kew facing his former team.

Kew led the Mammoth with 45 goals in just 12 regular-season appearances during his first season with Colorado. Despite playing a limited number of games, he emerged as one of the team’s most productive scorers and is expected to remain a key part of the Mammoth offense against Georgia.

Colorado will begin the new season with two road games before returning home. With two early-season bye weeks and a practice weekend mixed into the schedule, the Mammoth will then begin a stretch of three consecutive home games at Ball Arena. Colorado is scheduled to play nine home games during the 2026-27 season.

Georgia finished last season with the same 12-6 regular-season record as Colorado.

Forward Lyle Thompson remains one of the central figures for the Swarm, providing leadership on the floor, in the locker room and throughout the lacrosse community.

Georgia also made a notable postseason run last season. The Swarm defeated the three-time defending NLL champion Buffalo Bandits in the quarterfinals before falling to the Halifax Thunderbirds in a best-of-three semifinal series.

Colorado and Georgia split their two regular-season meetings last season.

The Mammoth suffered a 12-3 loss to the Swarm at Ball Arena on Dec. 27, 2025, but responded roughly two weeks later with a 7-5 road victory at Gas South Arena on Jan. 10, 2026.

The teams will again meet twice within a short span this season. Just 22 days after the New Year’s Day home opener, Colorado will travel to Georgia for another matchup against the Swarm on Jan. 23.

Since the Georgia Swarm franchise was established in 2016, Colorado holds a 10-6 record in the head-to-head series. The Mammoth are also 5-3 against Georgia at Ball Arena.

The New Year’s Day matchup will give Colorado an opportunity to build early momentum in the 2026-27 season, while also offering the Mammoth a chance to erase the memory of last season’s 12-3 home loss to the Swarm.
