(Denver = Wongeol Jeong) The Colorado Avalanche hosted the Carolina Hurricanes for an NHL regular-season game.

On the 10th, at Colorado’s home rink, Ball Arena, the Avalanche got off to a shaky start, conceding two quick goals early in the game.

However, in the middle of the second period, Cale Makar intercepted a pass from the opponent and surged toward the net, scoring a goal to give the Avalanche momentum for a comeback.

Colorado also managed to tie the game 2-2 with a goal from Sam Malinski. Malinski capitalized on a rebound from a shot by MacKinnon that hit the Carolina goalie and knocked out, pushing it into the net for the equalizer.

Though Colorado conceded a go-ahead goal to Carolina’s center Martin Necas, MacKinnon, Lehkonen, and Rantanen scored in succession, giving the Avalanche a 5-3 lead as the second period ended.

In the third period, both teams added one more goal each, and the game concluded with a 6-4 victory for Colorado.

MacKinnon was named the 1st Star of the game with 1 goal and 3 assists.
