(Denver = Won Jeong) Colorado Rockies’ new starting pitcher Dakota Hudson made his Coors Field debut in the Rockies’ 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.

Hudson, a right-hander, got off to a good start by striking out Tampa Bay’s leadoff hitter Yandy Díaz with an 89-mph sinker and an 83-mph slider.

Hudson allowed seven hits and one walk over six innings, striking out four. He gave up two runs in the second inning and one run in the third inning before holding the Rays scoreless the rest of the way.

The Rockies didn’t score until the eighth inning, when Jake Cave scored on Elias Díaz’s ground-rule double.

Colorado also scored in the nineth inning when Brenton Doyle hit a line drive to right-center field that scored Nolan Jones from second base.

The Rockies offense was shut down the rest of the way.

The Rockies will host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series starting Monday.
