(Denver = Won Jeong) The Colorado Ballet has kicked off its performance of Coppelia in Denver.

On the 8th local time, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House located in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in Colorado, the Colorado Ballet’s production of Coppelia took to the stage.

In this performance, Leah McFadden played the role of Swanhilda, the protagonist, while Christophor Moulton portrayed Franz, a young man in love with Swanhilda, delivering stellar performances.

Based on the short story “The Sandman” by German writer Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffmann, the ballet ‘Coppelia’ deviates from the dark atmosphere of the original story, featuring a charming and comedic storyline.

The ballet ‘Coppelia,’ inspired by the theme of a “wooden doll,” evokes thoughts of the fairy tale Pinocchio. However, Coppelia exuded an atmosphere conveying a unique sense of happiness.

The technical prowess of the dancers was also outstanding, captivating the audience with their clean and flawless movements.

Leah McFadden in the role of Swanhilda and Christophor Moulton as Franz showcased impeccable acting skills. McFadden realistically portrayed the shy maiden, while Moulton convincingly depicted the charming young man eager to marry Swanhilda.

The Colorado Ballet’s performance, which began on the 8th, will continue at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House until the 17th.
