[MLB] Feltner Shines by Effectively Shutting Down A’s Lineup

(Denver = Wongeol Jeong) Colorado Rockies pitcher Feltner delivered a strong performance in a home game against the Oakland Athletics, effectively shutting down the A’s lineup. However, the Rockies’ silent offense kept him from earning the win.
On April 4 (local time), in the 2025 Home Opener held at Coors Field, Rockies’ starter Feltner used a mix of sliders, fastballs, and curveballs to keep the Athletics at bay and rack up outs.
The A’s started Osvaldo Bido on the mound.
Feltner threw 90 pitches through five innings, recording four strikeouts and allowing one home run. By the end of the fifth inning, the score was tied at 2-2.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, a double by Jordan Beck brought Freeman home, tying the game again at 3-3.
The Rockies then went into full bullpen mode.
Herget took over for Feltner, followed by Alexander and Vodnik. Halvorsen pitched the top of the 9th inning.
Neither team scored through the 9th inning. Halvorsen returned to the mound in the top of the 10th. His first pitch was a wild one, allowing Max Schuemann, who was placed on second base due to the extra-innings runner rule, to advance to third.
Facing Brent Rooker, Halvorsen threw a low splitter on the third pitch, which Rooker hit. However, the ball went straight to third baseman McMahon, and Schuemann was tagged out at home by catcher Goodman.
In the top of the 11th, the Rockies gave up three runs.
Angel Chivilli took the mound after Halvorsen and walked the leadoff batter Shea Langeliers. He retired the next two batters with a groundout and a lineout but then allowed a hit to Jacob Wilson, bringing in two runs.
The next batter, Gio Urshela, hit a double, driving in Wilson and making the score 6-3.
In the bottom of the 11th, the Rockies failed to score, ending the game.
The winning pitcher was Murdock of the Athletics, the losing pitcher was Chivilli, and the save went to M. Miller.
