[MLB] Rockies Celebrate Season Finale at Coors Field with Win Over Angels in First Game of Last Home Series

Colorado Rockies / Hunter Goodman

(Denver = Ella Kim) Today is the first game of the last home series here at Coors Field. The Rockies and Angels will play a three game series, with fireworks and fun to bring this season to its finish line here in Denver.

Bradley Blalock started off on the mound this evening. He pitched five innings, and despite a higher hit count, he streamlined earned runs to 6. Jadon Hill, Juan Mejia and Jimmy Herget all dropped in to pitch a scoreless inning each, supporting the offense with a steady hand and sharp eyes. Vodnik finished off the night, maintaining the Rockies’ lead.

Offensively the Rockies were fierce out there tonight. In the first inning, Tyler Freeman hit a double and scored off of Hunter Goodman’s triple. Hunter Goodman then scored off of a sacrifice fly from Blaine Crim. In the second inning, Tyler Freeman singled to bring Ezequiel Tovar home and tie the score 3-3.

In the fifth inning, the Rockies responded to the Angels’ rally by scoring one more point than them. The score started off with the Angels up 6-3 and ended with the Rockies up 7-6. Blaine Crim hit another sacrifice fly to score Freeman. An error off a single from Brenton Doyle scored both Mickey Moniak and Goodman. Ezequiel Tovar hit a sacrifice fly to bring Brenton Doyle to home plate to score the final run. The Rockies will return tomorrow, hoping to keep this momentum through their last series this season at Coors Field.
