[MLS] Colorado Draws 1-1 with Minnesota, Playoff Hopes Fading…

(Commerce City = Won Jeong) Colorado played host to Minnesota in a home match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
On the 27th (local time), Colorado lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, while Minnesota opted for a defense-oriented 5-2-3 setup.
In the 46th minute, just before the first half ended, Santos converted a free kick near Minnesota’s box, sending the ball into the net and giving Colorado a 1-0 lead.
After the opener, the match settled until the 65th minute, when Triantis found space in front of Colorado’s goal and fired a right-footed shot. The ball sailed into the bottom-left corner past Colorado keeper Steffen, leveling the match at 1-1.
Throughout the game, Colorado dominated Minnesota in both possession and total shots. However, defensive lapses allowed the visitors to find the equalizer.
After the match, Colorado head coach Chris Armas told reporters, “In many ways, this was similar to the Houston game.” He added, “We dealt well with Minnesota’s main weapons — counterattacks, long throw-ins, and corner kicks. Limiting them to just two shots on target was very effective.”
Regarding the 65th-minute equalizer, Armas explained, “Even while pressing forward, we wanted to maintain control in the back to stop counterattacks. Aside from conceding that goal, we executed nearly everything else, including set pieces.”
Colorado will next face Real Salt Lake away on October 4.
