(WINNIPEG = Won Jeong) – The Colorado Avalanche continues to prove why they are the team to beat this season. Led by a dominant performance from superstar Nathan MacKinnon, the Avalanche edged out the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Thursday night at Canada Life Centre, completing a perfect four-game road sweep.

Colorado (48-13-10) showed resilience in a tightly contested battle, eventually pulling away in the third period to silence the Winnipeg crowd.

The Jets struck first midway through the opening period. Mark Scheifele found the back of the net off assists from Kyle Connor and Josh Morrissey, giving the home team an early 1-0 lead. However, the Avalanche responded quickly; Jack Drury notched his career-high 9th goal of the season to tie the game before the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, the third frame belonged to Nathan MacKinnon. The Hart Trophy candidate broke the deadlock on a power play, firing a shot past Connor Hellebuyck with help from Nazem Kadri and Martin Necas. MacKinnon wasn’t finished, later adding an insurance goal—his 48th of the season—assisted by Artturi Lehkonen and Gabriel Landeskog to make it 3-1.

Winnipeg refused to go quietly. Scheifele scored his second of the night late in the third to cut the deficit to one. In doing so, Scheifele reached 88 points on the season, surpassing his previous career high. Despite the milestone, the Jets (30-30-12) were unable to find the equalizer in the dying minutes.

The two Central Division rivals won’t have to wait long for a rematch. The Jets will travel to Denver this Saturday to face the Avalanche at Ball Arena, looking to snap Colorado’s momentum.
