[UFA] Colorado Succeeds in Injecting Young Blood

(Golden, CO – Wongeol Jeong) The Colorado Summit played their fourth game of the season against the Oregon Steel.
With a current record of 1 win and 2 losses, the Summit were ranked 4th in the West Division. A victory against the Steel, who were 3rd in the same division, would allow the Summit to move up to 3rd place.
Held on the 24th (local time) at Colorado’s home stadium, Marv Kay Stadium, the game saw Colorado field many new players, signaling a generational shift.
By injecting young blood such as Muller, May, Coolman, Elliot, Knopf, and Laurence into the lineup, the Summit increased the pace of the game.
The game overall progressed at a rapid tempo.
With both teams made up largely of younger players, there was no strain in terms of stamina. Both teams also showcased strong teamwork, with all seven players moving the disc quickly and fluidly.
In particular, Colorado applied intense pressure on Oregon’s handlers with double-team defense, which led to turnovers. This strategy proved effective, allowing Colorado to take control of the game.
From the beginning, rain created unstable field conditions. During the game, several drops occurred, likely due to the wet and slippery disc.

Just before the end of the third quarter, Colorado’s cutter Faris launched a huck from the defensive to the offensive zone. Atkins caught it in the goal area, giving Colorado a 17–12 lead heading into the fourth and final quarter.
Toward the end of the game, Oregon’s player #24 suffered a right knee injury while attempting a defensive layout. Fortunately, he was able to walk off the field, and the injury did not appear to be serious.
With around 7 minutes left in the game, Oregon began to collapse. They allowed multiple hucks from Colorado, resulting in easy points. It was a turning point where Oregon, who had kept the game close within 2–3 points through the first three quarters, began to fall apart.
Oregon continued to struggle with drops and mistakes on offense, and the score gap widened to 8 points.
With a dominant 24–14 victory over Oregon, Colorado climbed to 3rd place in the West Division and significantly boosted their chances of making the playoffs.
Finer led the team in scoring, while Froude and Finer tied for most assists, contributing greatly to the team’s win.
Colorado is scheduled to host the division-leading Oakland Spiders at home on the 30th.
